Our Story
CTL is devoted to amplifying classic narratives from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and voices and is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every story is honored and every voice is heard. One of CTL’s goals is to engage and enrich the community, educators and students through storytelling by increasing access to classical theatre.
CTL's Tuesday night workshop is the heart of the Lab where our theatre artists collaborate with highly-respected directors from the theatre community.

Founded in 1990, Classical Theatre Lab is a Los Angeles-based ensemble of theatre artists devoted to providing a nurturing, creative home for our actors, directors, and writers through our weekly workshops and free public performances throughout the year. For our audiences, our goal is to promote a love of classical theatre by providing distinctive and inspiring experiences through a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Over nearly three decades, Classical Theatre Lab has provided our public and our members workshops and readings of most of the great plays of history, from Aeschylus to Albee, Shakespeare to Shaw, Plautus to Pinter, in an ongoing effort to uncover the contemporary connection among plays of all times and cultures.
